5th Grade Reflections

I did all sorts of things this year. For example, I did two PBL projects this year, and I went on a field trip to a college. My favorite thing to do this year was working on science experiments with Mr. Mac. I also loved the time when we made dog treats for an association that takes care of animals. I also had an amazing time going to Innovative Inventions and the Robotics Competition for G.T. This year was a great year!

Civil War Amazing Facts

Lincoln’s assassination

1. Where was the Secret Service?

It didn’t exist yet, although, Lincoln signed a bill creating it the night before.

2. Where was General Grant?

He wanted to be in New Jersey! Grant was advertised to be at the event, but he declined the invitation so he could travel with his wife to New Jersey to visit relatives.

3. Lincoln almost didn’t go to Ford’s Theater.

Lincoln was reluctant to go to the play. However, since General Grant cancelled, he felt obliged to attend, even though his wife didn’t feel well.

4. Where was Lincoln’s bodyguard?

John Parker, the bodyguard, initially left his position to watch the play, and then he went to the saloon next door for intermission. It was the same saloon where Booth was drinking. No one knows where Parker was during the assassination, but he wasn’t at his position at the door to the booth.

5. What was the plan?

Booth meant to capture the president and keep him hostage, but, there were too many people at the theater, so he assassinated him instead.

So Long 5th Grade

The most important thing I learned was the 1900’s through 2000’s history.

My favorite project was making a candy store for PBL.

I was most surprised by when Mrs. Lobue said I was going bowling with her.

The thing I disliked most was when we had to do Math and Reading homework.

GS Project Reflection

I thought Jacob and Jeffery could have participated more because I was mostly speaking.  I understand how people would think we were unprepared. Overall the results were okay.

News Report

In the story “Thatagirl” a girl named Hazel goes to see a baseball game with one of her “enemies” named Timmy. He bets her the New York Yankees were going to beat the Lookouts. They go to the game to see that a woman named Jackie Mitchell strikes out the legendary Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig like they were nothing. After the game, Hazel now has confidence that she can play baseball with Timmy and his friends. The boys agree after what they saw, Hazel deserves to play.

Tax Explanation

We had 10 green mints that were [money] in cups. The tax collector [Mrs. Mcfall] would ask for money for certain taxes. Most of them were judgmental about our appearance or by our abilities. I thought it was unfair because some people paid tax for wearing glasses or not having them their. Or people who were prepared and had a pencil on their desk.

2014 Memories and 2015 Hopes

In 2014,  I will never forget when we read our colorful ABC rhyming word books to the wonderful little Pre-K kids. Our kid, Allen, was a sweet and shy little boy. His favorite letter was S. It made me feel very happy to see the enormous smile on his face. In 2015, I hope we do more fun, interesting lab stations. Hopefully, we will do one on the humongous Periodic Table and learn all of the interesting elements like Au: Gold or En: Einsteinium.
